Draft. This must be reviewed by a solicitor, with the company name and contact details added, before launch.
If you use the map
You do not need an account. If you use your location, it stays on your device and only moves the map. We do not receive it.
In the app, following a van or saving an area stores an anonymous device record, your push token, and a saved area of several square kilometres. You can delete all of this from Settings.
The web map uses no advertising cookies and no third-party trackers. Sponsor cards are counted in total, not per person.
If you own a van
We hold your email, your van details, the document references you give us and your location while you are live. The purpose is to run the service you signed up for.
The public sees your current position only while you are live. Moving vans are shown approximately and with a delay. Nothing within 300 metres of your saved home is published. Raw location is deleted after 72 hours. Past journeys are never public.
You can delete your account in the app or on the web, which removes your vans, schedules, drivers and location records.
If you drive for a van owner
You join with a code from the van's owner, with no email or account. We hold the name the owner gave us for you, and your location while you are live. The same limits on location apply.
The owner can see that you joined and whether the van is live, as anyone can on the map. They cannot see a saved home spot. If you stop driving the van, or the owner removes you, your driver record is deleted.
If you run an ice cream shop or kiosk on the map
We list some shops and kiosks that have not signed up. We use the business name, the place it trades from, its opening times and its website, taken from the business's own website, menu or shopfront and from public records such as the Food Standards Agency register. We do this so that people can find ice cream near them, and we rely on our legitimate interest in running a useful map.
We write to a business within a month of listing it, and it can correct or remove the listing at any time. We never list a home, and we never list a van unless its owner has signed up.
To remove a listing, use the link on its page. It comes down straight away, with no account or proof needed. If you ask us not to list you, we keep a short note of the business name so that you are not added again. We check listings again at least once a year.
